Frequently Asked Questions
"What is Reiki and how does it work?"
Reiki healing is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing. "Reiki" is a Japanese word that translates into ‘Rei’ - Universal Life Force and ‘Ki’ - Energy. Together they mean ‘Universal Life Force Energy’. If you practice Yoga, Chi Gong, Meditation or have had therapies such as Acupuncture or Ayurvedic Medicine you will have heard of the terms 'chi', 'ki', 'prana' and 'life force'. Each culture has a different way of describing energy and how to rebalance and realign energy in the body. Reiki is based on the belief that there is a life force energy that flows through all living things. When this energy is blocked or disrupted, it can cause an unwell state of being. Reiki helps to restore the flow of this energy by rebalancing the body’s energy centers.
"When we do a Reiki session, is this your energy? Where does it come from?"
Reiki does not draw from my energy. During my training, I was attuned to Universal Source Energy. I serve as a conduit for that energy so it can better work through your own energy systems.
"What is Sound Healing (Sound Bathing)?"
Sound Healing (also sometimes called a Sound Bath) uses various sounds and vibrations produced by instruments like singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, or even voice to promote relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. Each bowl and/or tuning fork vibrates at a specific frequency, allowing me to help you see positive change for specific concerns you may have.
"What happens during Sound Healing/a Sound Bath?"
During a sound bath/sound healing, participants are invited to lie down in a comfortable position while I play singing bowls or tuning forks. The resonant sound waves create a deeply immersive experience, gently "bathing" the body in healing vibrations.
"What does a Sound Bath/Sound Healing do?"
This full-body listening experience helps quiet the mind, reduce stress, ease tension, and promote a meditative, deeply relaxed state. These sessions activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), which is responsible for your body’s “rest and digest” functions. It helps lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and also helps with improved mood and sense of emotional balance. Emerging research also suggests that sound waves may reach deep into the body’s tissues and cells, potentially supporting healing and regeneration on a cellular level.
"Do tuning fork facials really work?"
Yes! I work in very specific areas of your face to achieve specific results. People who receive tuning fork facial massage often experience reduced puffiness, enhanced circulation, and deep relaxation. It can also help tone and lift facial muscles and help with tension in facial muscles and the jaw, which can be beneficial for conditions like TMJ.
"Who should not do Sound Baths/Sound Healing?"
People with pacemakers, metal implants such as plates or pins (reconstructive surgery, not body modifications such as gauges, etc), Epilepsy, or if you are in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy should avoid sound baths/sound healing. These are all questions we will discuss during my thorough intake/screening process.
"What are Sacred Ceremonies?"
Sacred Ceremonies are held in group settings, either indoors or surrounded by nature, and are created to honor ourselves, our shared connection, and the world around us. These gatherings are deeply healing, meditative, and spiritual experiences. They may include elements such as dancing, chanting, drumming, and other instruments- all provided to support the flow of the ceremony. Each ceremony is thoughtfully tailored to you, your group, and the intention or event being celebrated.
